　Many years ago, I could hear nothing with one of my ears suddenly. At first, I thought it was just a small problem. But two days later, after taking the medicine that the hospital had given me, my hearing still didn"t return. Soon after that, my doctor told me I had a brain tumor (瘤). So I had to spend time alone because of my illness. However, that gave me the chance to work on my favourite hobby — art.

　Do you know what the world"s highest waterfall is? You may say that it is Niagara Falls. Niagara Falls is really very beautiful. But in terms of height, the most fantastic falls in the world is Angel Falls. It is deep in the jungles (丛林) of Venezuela.

　 Few people have ever seen Angel Falls. It"s very hard to get there. ①If you go there on foot, you have to travel for weeks through thick jungles. If you go there by plane from Caracas, the capital city of this country, it will take about four hours.

　Reading is a wonderful habit to develop. It can improve your memory and it is fun for the whole family. Let"s start small to read for just a few minutes a day and become a lifelong reader. Here are some useful ways to develop the habit of reading.

　 Make sure you read every day. It may be just 5-10 minutes that you have to spare, but open a book at least once a day. Try to fix your reading habit to something else you do every day. For example, read when you eat or have a cup of tea.

　 Read books that interest you. If you"re not engaged (吸引住) by the book that you"re reading, it can make reading seem like a chore. But, if you really like what you"re reading, you won"t want to put the book down and reading will be fun.
